UPDATE ON HOLIDAY BLISS
Returning from the sunshine of the Volvic region of France we discovered Vichy Spas are a little different, like Napoleon and Josephine we took the waters in Vichy which are sweet and sparkling but filled up our water bottle from the free spring in Volvic village which tasted much fresher. The Volcano Region of the Massif Central is amazing and we enjoyed the beautiful countryside and walking with lots of paths and options to choose. The Alpine, Mont Dore walk is stunning (slightly higher that Ben Nevis) and presented a challange on a very hot day along with the climbing over a few cliff edge rocky crags. The steep climb up Puy de Dome was an experience worth the scamble on unfit legs. you can of course travel by train but us Brits went up the tough way! (Chocolate was required on route down). Our pretty apartment in a small French village just outsdie Vichy was wonderful. The Castel Bois Clare is a lovely place to stay, nice pool, beautiful countryside and wonderful hosts. If you like France and want get away from it all, this is the place. Hans and Helmi speak excellent English and Helmi cooks dinner for guests 2 or 3 times a week, which could find you sharing dinner with a range of European guests, great fun on top of flowing wine and wonderful food. Oh and I forget to mention the two cute Border Collies, Sarah and Evi, who keep you entertained with their clever games with the frizbee and moles. Here is the website link http://www.castelboisclair.eu/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=16 The team at Serenity Rose have been busy with Spa Break bookings and the feedback from our guests is excellent - see guest reviews. With this feedback in mind, we have added another one night Spa Break - Pure ila and a couple more day spa options. Our newly weds are loving the exclusive Hydro Spa and Steam Razul so we have added another option see Couples Romance - Bridal. I know the rain is causing havoc and making us feel glum and those in need of a 'Pick Me Up' might like our - De Stress Saturday, which includes a Yoga session, Spa Treatments, lunch and a lovely massage - designed to create positive energy. My Mother had me laughing this week, she is very proud of the rain cloud she was created for the Olympic Opening Ceremony - it actually rains on the cows ! She says it is part of the British sense of humour and we should just get on with things and stop moaning - I think she is right, we can get caught up in gloom and forget we can create our own sunshine. This afternoon, there was sunshine and it really did feel good. We have been concentrating on increasing the positive energy and light in the spa. If you get a chance, after a massage, take a few minutes to chill out in our Light lounge and you will discover a little bit of summer tranquility! Wishing a blissful July Lesley Turner
HOW BLISSFUL WILL YOU FEEL THIS SUMMER?
As a child, I loved big family holidays with parents and grandparents. For me it was one long game of cricket or tennis on the beach with the fun of enticing Grandma into the sea just as the waves turned wild. I had no idea how much planning went into holidays and I could never understand why my father was cross at the beginning and at the end of every trip. Recently a good friend revealed how stressed she was feeling about the family holiday. On her shoulders is the decision-making, budgeting, co-ordination of flights, hotels, car, holiday activities, packing, route planning and meals. As well as the pre holiday house clean, washing, ironing, and packing both ends. Then if it all goes wrong, which it did last year, she takes the blame! A thankless task and I was surprised to find myself agreeing that two-week family holidays are hard work and can leave you stressed rather than relaxed. I recall my frantic attempts to have a happy family holiday, which usually began with high expectations like ‘it is going to be the best family holiday ever’. Apparently, holiday perfectionism is one of the main causes of holiday stress as well as being put in the same room with relatives who you try to avoid for the rest of the year. Being together for two weeks as a family often highlights everything that is changing in your life, and draws attention to any relationship strains, or feelings of loss – like the children growing up and away. This may make us feel unsettled however, for others the monotonous sameness of the family holiday is a challenge, same faces, same jokes, same squabbles; same type of holiday can cause boredom and restlessness rather than relaxation and refreshment. I have learned a lot about holidays, and these days, I find the one to one time during a short break with my husband is precious. It feels truly liberating to roam freely and do our own thing and for a few days, this is pure bliss! Regular shorter breaks seem to refresh us more. This may be because two weeks are just too long to be away from the workplace and because there are so many interesting and exciting choices. A blissful solution seems to be a shorter family holiday coupled with short breaks or days out. Looking back, I think my parents would have preferred this option. At Serenity Rose Spa, we provide a range of short breaks and relaxing interludes focussed on helping you to recharge and refresh. Have a look at our Yoga Chakra Healing Breaks or the Detox and Renew Retreat, Spa Days, or two-hour Ritual Treatments. These provide space for you to Relax, Let Go and Unwind in a short burst. Spa Days are wonderful for couples who want to reconnect, are blissful for friends and family to share ‘together time’ and ideal for the individual traveller. So, whatever you are doing this summer I wish you good weather, Love, Friendship, Laughter and a lot of holiday bliss!

What can you do to improve your abundance?
Are you tired of listening to the daily doom and constant focus on negative expectations? Are you weary of the pessimistic overtones? The new drive to ‘balance austerity’ seems like an attempt make us become more positive but still feels wrapped up in limiting beliefs. In my experience, when we allow our beliefs to become limited, we begin to project negativity, which influences our thoughts, feelings and actions, that in turn work to deliver the very outcomes we want to avoid. It seems what we focus on we get more of! So what can we do to let go of limiting beliefs and focus on what we want rather than worrying about what we don’t want to happen? How do we let go of nagging thoughts and fears, which can often hold us back? How do we move forward with renewed confidence? I believe that Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and The Laws of Attraction and are principles which when practised regularly, can be life changing, as I discovered many years ago. Learning to let go of painful beliefs, and trapped emotions can be liberating and help to rebuild confidence, to allow us to be who we really are, and reach our full potential. I discovered EFT and the Laws of Attraction at about the same time and today I recognise the value of these practises even more. In these challenging times I recognise the value of these practises even more. The daily practise help me to tap away stuck emotions and become the change I want to be. So when you see me tapping in the Spa, I am focussing on what I want more of in my life. For me, this is like a mental detox or tidy up session, a way of clearing out the negative allowing me focus on what I really want from life. So how do these practises work? EFT, is a psychological acupressure technique I routinely use and highly recommend to optimise emotional health. Although it is still often overlooked, emotional health is essential to your physical health and healing - no matter how devoted you are to a proper diet and lifestyle, you will be unable to achieve your body's ideal healing and preventative powers if emotional barriers stand in your way. Emotional Freedom Technique can help you to
The Law of Attraction states that ‘like attracts like’" and that by focusing on positive or negative thoughts, we can bring about positive or negative results. This is underpinned by the principles and teachings of Abraham Hicks, in the book ‘Ask and you shall receive’ some of these are,
To experience and learn more about these practices why not come along to one of our Retreat activities. The Detox and Renew Retreat is a life changing combination of , Nordic Walking, Yoga, Emotional Freedom Technique, Laws of Attraction and ila Healing Spa Treatments. We are also adding separate EFT and The laws of attraction retreat to our autumn programme. In the meantime, enjoy life, by focussing on receiving and giving joy and abundance. Become the change you want to be! I start the day with EFT and The Law of Attraction practises and here are some affirmations which work for me - what might yours be? Abundance Affirmations I am ready and willing to accept all the good things life has to offer. Money and happiness flow freely into my life. As I perceive so I receive, and perceive my life is amazing I am ready to be loved and be happy I think the right thoughts to achieve my goals I am on the road to a healthy and happy lifestyle I have all the abundance I need with some to spare and share with others. He developed a scientific system of massage movements that form the basis of many massage techniques today. This type of massage uses long strokes called Effleurage and kneading known as Petrissage, alongside tapping techniques. These work to relax tired and aching, muscles whilst encouraging the flow of blood and lymph and enhancing skin tone. Aromatherapy Massage Uses warm essential oils during massage therapy, which works by targeting the Limbic System – the part of the brain associated with emotions. The properties and scent in the essential oils can aid relaxation and make you feel refreshed and rejuvenated. Hot Stone Massage This involves hot oils and stones in an addition to the Therapists touch. The heat from the stones is very relaxing and is used as a gentle massage tool to ease tension and knots. The heat is very therapeutic and warms the muscles. Healing Massage Techniques may include Acupressure, Marma Point Therapy, or Chakra Balancing. All of these techniques work on the bodies’ natural energy centres or Meridians associated with Traditional Chinese Medicine. Pressure point therapies stimulate natural healing ability as muscular tension is released which leads to enhanced blood circulation. Pressure point therapy can help to relieve pain, reduce stress, and often produces a soothing effect or uplifting effect on the mind. We provide all of the massage styles and treatments as described above and you can book a massage by looking at the website and filling in the online booking form, or by calling us on 01684 594686. In particular we recommend the ila massage treatments which encompass all of the styles above. The ila Kudalini Massage and Tibetan Five Element Treatments are exceptionally therapeutic. We have had excellent feedback from clients who have experienced powerful relaxation and profound effects from these treatments which help to restore the nervous system, stimulate energy flow, soothe and energise the mind.
